Buyer (Moto)

Our background and your main purpose...

Ruroc exists to make helmets cool. We believe that re-engineering protection with the perfect balance of art and science will make people want to wear our helmets, making them safer and meaning they live longer (and cooler!). In 2019, we had our first £1m turnover day and in 2020 we had our first £1m turnover hour. Ruroc has grown from £1m rev to a £20m+ revenue Action / MotorSports helmet brand selling into over 90 countries globally from its single distribution centre in Gloucester and we're now in an excellent position to build further growth.

All sales take place through Ruroc’s eCommerce store www.ruroc.com giving Ruroc a direct connection to its customers that legacy / competitor brands do not possess. This close connection to the end rider has given us the ability to rapidly innovate and enhance our gear at a rate never before seen in the Global helmet industry.

We control our destiny; we manage everything end-to-end to deliver our promise to customers and fulfill the potential of the Ruroc Brand. We are building a world-class team of Product, Brand, Marketing, Customer, Operations, Tech, Finance and Talent/HR people.

Reporting to Ruroc’s Purchasing Manager, your focus will be to align New Product Development BOM’s with the correct supply chain – utilising both existing and new options.

You will need to work closely with other members of the Buying and Merchandising team to understand commonality of supply, along with our Product Development and Trading teams to facilitate new product introductions and efficient movement of goods between suppliers and manufacturing locations.

You’ll do this by working towards the wider group purchasing strategy, as rolled out by the Purchasing Manager and identifying sourcing to fulfil those objectives. Strong financial management will ensure those suppliers maintain continuous cost mitigation measures; whilst you continue to spot and source opportunities for improvement.

You will need to work closely with our Product Design team during upcoming product launches to obtain technical drawings and part specifications, which you will take to the global market to deliver best value sourcing options. Experience in presenting complex data to support decision making is essential – as sourcing oversight will be governed by Management / Director level. An ability to communicate with colleagues at a more senior level is therefore required.

Operating within the confines of an ERP system means you will have access to tools aiding decision making, so technical competence is essential in maintaining the database for which all mass production manufacturing is coordinated.
