Technical Roles

A stimulating environment for any technical mind, our team provides the opportunity to work on high impact projects that go into production with lightning speed.

Our Technical organisation is made up of three distinct areas; Engineering, Technology and Performance. Together, we focus on innovation, reliability and flawless execution. We work tirelessly to deliver a car that is capable of achieving the best performance – maximising the opportunity to score world championship points, one race after another.

We aim to outsmart our competitors with the very best technology and an unrivalled development rate to sustain championship success. Our technology capability strategy drives investment in long-term sustainable performance. We continuously develop class-leading tools and processes, enhancing our ability to understand vehicle performance factors and produce optimal solutions and designs.

Operations Roles

In a sport where speed is just as important as absolute precision, the operational challenges are about as rigorous as they come. Steely nerves and quick thinking are essential.

Our Operations teams use the latest materials, the highest precision processes and employ the most highly skilled people in the industry to ensure quality is at the heart of our race program. We work to tight timescales to get the car built and race ready as early as possible. We invest in the very latest machinery, enabling production to deliver the very best output, both in terms of precision and finish. In a world where both speed and meticulous attention to detail are paramount, we are constantly reviewing and refining what we do to deliver a better output, faster.

Race Roles

Wherever we are in the world, our Race team supports the Silver Arrows on the track, giving our drivers the edge with pin-sharp analysis and instant feedback.

The Race team is a close knit 50 people travelling to every race, all over the globe. Our focus is to win Championships in the shortest time possible. We calculate the strategy in an ever-changing environment, refine the set-up of the car and ensure the driver has the best car beneath him as he leaves the garage.

In a sport where every fraction of a second counts, our job is to eliminate errors and missed opportunities to add performance. We believe in a culture of positive, constructive challenge and continuous improvement, focusing on quality, reliability and speed.

Business Roles

We couldn’t win races without amazing IT, sharp Legal, skilled Marketing, shrewd Finance and visionary HR. Each of these disciplines brings their expertise to an environment where everything was needed yesterday.

Our support functions provide the infrastructure the team needs in the championship campaign. The Marketing team is responsible for securing and building the best relationships with our sponsors and partners and showcasing the brand. Legal provides the sound contractual foundations upon which our relationships are built. IT enables the huge computing capability of the team and Finance makes sure the numbers speak for themselves and that we operate compliantly. Finally, the HR team builds the capability of our workforce.

The legacy of the Silver Arrows dates back to 1934 and a debut victory for the Mercedes-Benz W 25 in the legendary Eifelrennen. As legend has it, the Mercedes cars had been stripped of their traditional white paint before the race to save weight – running instead in bare metal. After their triumphant debut, the name 'Silver Arrows' was coined for Mercedes racing cars and gradually caught on over the years.

The legend of the Silver Arrows would continue into the Formula One era in equally successful style, when the three pointed star first entered the World Championship in 1954 and emerged victorious at the first attempt with legendary driver Juan Manuel Fangio – a feat that would be repeated the following season.

A period of almost forty years absence from the sport would follow, before Mercedes-Benz returned to Formula One as an engine supplier in 1994 and then as a full-time works outfit in 2010.

Formula One is like nothing else in the sporting sphere. It’s a demanding technical and human challenge, combining cutting-edge technologies and innovation, high-performance management and elite teamwork.

At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and young star George Russell.

The team has set a new benchmark for F1 success during the sport’s current Hybrid era, winning consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the Constructors’ Championship in 2021. During those title-winning seasons, the team has scored 111 wins, 232 podium finishes, 118 pole positions, 81 fastest laps and 53 one-two finishes from 160 race starts
