Pratt & Miller Engineering is seeking a Project Lead to work individually and lead small teams of designers / engineers to execute vehicle integration projects primarily in Defense with additional opportunities in specialty vehicles. Candidates should have experience in vehicle design, system level development, and worked in small teams focused on fast paced product development. This includes leading the team for projects that include full vehicle design, chassis design, technology integration, simulation, objective testing, and subjective evaluation. The ideal candidate will be able to work from clean sheet innovative concept designs through prototype builds and testing.Experience with direct customer interaction and development of combat and full vehicles is desired.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Project management leading team projects and task. Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Coordinate activities on technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test issues
2. Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customer teams
3. Lead the integration of team concepts, test data, knowledge into vehicle design
4. Guide the life cycle (design, build, and test) of assigned systems
5. Cascade the vehicle level requirements to the system and component level
6. Lead the establishment of trade study parameters and weightings
7. Maintain the status vs. requirement of assigned systems
8. Contribute to military/automotive standard development in assigned areas
9. Prepare updates and communicate status of assigned areas
10. Establish design priority in assigned areas
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work independently managing projects and team. Responsible for managing project expenses within defined targets. Works collaboratively with project team members to develop and manage project plans. Typically works on projects involving vehicle integration, involving engineering teams from other functional areas. Leads medium-sized projects, contributes independently to product design at some level, and should have bigger picture thought process.
