Electronics Technician Entry Level - 2024

OVERVIEW: Entry-level electronics technician position. Uses basic skills and knowledge to follow clearly defined standard operating procedures. Receives instruction and close supervision of work processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:

  • Interpret engineering schematics, pin schedules, and loom drawings to construct quality wiring harnesses
  • Ability to clearly communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing with other technicians and engineers
  • Able to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Able to use Microsoft Office software tools: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, web browsers
  • Understand and follow IPC 620C wire harness build processes
  • Maintain clean and organized work environment
  • Perform quality assurance checks on various Electronics Lab work products
  • Perform installation of electrical components onto vehicles

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • 0 – 3 years of electronic component build, test or repair experience

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience with typical electronics tools: oscilloscope, voltmeter, power supplies, hand tools, soldering iron, etc
  • Printed circuit board assembly and repair experience
  • High Voltage system safety
  • Knowledge of military or motorsports industry wiring loom build techniques and components
  • Must be dependable and take extreme pride in work

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to use common electronics hand tools and test equipment
  • Must be able to identify color-coded wires and ID labels
  • Ability to work on vehicles and equipment, including on top of, underneath, and confined spaces
  • Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 50lbs
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous substances such as epoxies and glues
  • Work primarily performed in Electronics Lab with occasional work time in workshop areas, and outdoor test locations.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • Flexible work schedule dependent on project workload
  • 40 hours per week with periodic overtime required
  • Travel rarely required

PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: In addition to the items mentioned above, the ideal candidate may possess but not limited to all the following:

  • High level of initiative
  • Understanding of electrical theory and concepts
  • General knowledge of automotive systems (steering, brakes, powertrain, lighting, etc)

This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements.
