Production Software Engineer

As an engineering company with a wide-ranging customer base, the position will support development of prototype and concept vehicles, with a strong focus on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles and unmanned vehicle platforms. Primary customers support the advanced automotive and defense industries. An open mind to new challenges and a desire to constantly learn is a must for any candidate. Pratt & Miller is looking for highly talented candidates to focus on vehicle electronics design, development and integration. The following section describes the skills that are valuable for the types of projects awarded to our group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following items:

  • Production Readiness of Embedded Software
    • Lead transition of controls from prototype to production maturity level
    • Develop and support processes and tools for internal and customer builds
      • Establish a software release plan for future growth
      • Align software development with overall production process
    • Direct design review and DFMEA activities for embedded software
    • Manage customer service and support, including troubleshooting and resolution
    • Mentor team members to build and grow this capability at Pratt & Miller
  • Safety Implementation
    • Determine industry and customer safety requirements for each application
    • Support analysis of systems to define desired functional safety ASIL rating
    • Develop and implement plan to meet proper safety rating
  • Verification and Validation Testing
    • Formalize software verification and validation processes
    • Develop and conduct Model-In-the-Loop (MIL) verification activities
    • Establish and implement a Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) verification process
    • Support software validation testing on vehicles
    • Troubleshoot electrical issues ranging from harnessing to controller states
    • Process and analyze performance and test data

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interaction with current & potential customers regarding Pratt & Miller systems
  • Planning & program management on internal and customer projects
  • Education / training
  • Provide feedback on product needs, processes and future training
