Pratt Miller is looking for an experienced Junior Mechanic to join its Motorsports business unit. The Junior Mechanic would have a supporting role on the Corvette Racing Team and have responsibilities both at the shop and track.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mechanical Expectations
- Ensure accountability to team and company objectives
- Use and understand the resources available to complete job tasks
- Align processes and quality of work with overall team expectation
- Look for opportunities for improvement and plan to realize improvements
- Develop and refine the use of shop tools and processes to accurately and properly assemble components and systems of the racecars
Vehicle Preparation
- Work with Car Chiefs to learn tasks in and around the car, the shop and the racetrack
- Work closely with Car Chiefs and Mechanics to learn all aspects of the car preparation and take all opportunities to better your personal development
- Develop an understanding of subsystems of the cars, thru maintenance as well as technical drawings and prints
- Car assemblies to the prints and engineering requirements
- Car wrapping as needed in the shop and at the track
- Focus on learning and enhancing understanding of the vehicle systems
Trackside Execution
- Pit Set up and Teardown
- Tasks in the paddock to support the mechanics and race team as they prepare the racecars
- Pit stop execution
- Additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.)
Shop Execution
- Organization and cleanliness of work area
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required:
- Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessary
- Monthly meetings with the Operation Manager on goals and future progress
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Desired Education:
- High School diploma with mechanical training classes
- Achieve program goals and strive to continuously improve
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Stress may occur periodically
- Long hours may be required at times
- Physical labor is a regular part of daily work
- Travel of up to 60% is required
- Develop and refine team-oriented mindset
