Junior Mechanic

Pratt Miller is looking for an experienced Junior Mechanic to join its Motorsports business unit. The Junior Mechanic would have a supporting role on the Corvette Racing Team and have responsibilities both at the shop and track.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mechanical Expectations

  • Ensure accountability to team and company objectives
  • Use and understand the resources available to complete job tasks
  • Align processes and quality of work with overall team expectation
  • Look for opportunities for improvement and plan to realize improvements
  • Develop and refine the use of shop tools and processes to accurately and properly assemble components and systems of the racecars

Vehicle Preparation

  • Work with Car Chiefs to learn tasks in and around the car, the shop and the racetrack
  • Work closely with Car Chiefs and Mechanics to learn all aspects of the car preparation and take all opportunities to better your personal development
  • Develop an understanding of subsystems of the cars, thru maintenance as well as technical drawings and prints
  • Car assemblies to the prints and engineering requirements
  • Car wrapping as needed in the shop and at the track
  • Focus on learning and enhancing understanding of the vehicle systems

Trackside Execution

  • Pit Set up and Teardown
  • Tasks in the paddock to support the mechanics and race team as they prepare the racecars
  • Pit stop execution
  • Additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.)

Shop Execution

  • Organization and cleanliness of work area

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required:

  • Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessary
  • Monthly meetings with the Operation Manager on goals and future progress

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Desired Education:

  • High School diploma with mechanical training classes
  • Achieve program goals and strive to continuously improve

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Stress may occur periodically
  • Long hours may be required at times
  • Physical labor is a regular part of daily work
  • Travel of up to 60% is required
  • Develop and refine team-oriented mindset

Other Requirements:

  • US citizen or Green Card holder required.
