Specialist, RF Radio and Intercom Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Technical Director, this position provides RF radio and intercom related support at the race track and related events.

  • Provide support to at track and shop personal for all radio and intercom systems
  • Responsible for installation and maintenance of all RF based audio equipment at the track or campus
  • Building of headsets, interface cables, and harnesses for Motorola handhelds and base stations and GreenGo digital intercom systems
  • Researching new improvements for our RF networks in both security and speed
  • Ensure all teams have necessary equipment and data that is needed for tests, race events, and operations center
  • Establish policies, procedures, and check lists for designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards
  • Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting RF problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with OEM’s and providers to provide optimization for radio and intercom systems
  • Configuration and management of over the air provisioning server and code plug management
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot all headsets, interfaces, cabling, and configuration of all radio and intercom equipment including gain and volume control and settings
  • Report on network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information, and managing projects
  • Manufacture, test, and manage inventory of headset, PTT, interface, and antennae cabling

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required. Associate or Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or Information Technology: Preferred

Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience

Computer Skills: Advanced understanding of RF signal radiation and frequencies. Experienced in making various electronic cabling and pin outs. Experience with configuration and management of Motorola Turbo radios, Gateways, GreenGo Digital Intercoms, and managing code plugs and over the air management. Experience working with oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and spectrum analyzers. Working knowledge of computer networking and TCP/IP.
