Part-Time CNC Machinist Apprentice

POSITION SUMMARY

Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking a highly motivated student or recent graduate to build practical knowledge and gain hands-on work experience in a manufacturing environment. The Apprentice CNC Machinist will assist with the setup and operation of a computer numerical control (CNC) machine alongside an experienced machinist. They will adhere to safety and quality standards, maintain equipment and supplies, and assist with various shop activities. This is a part-time position (25-29 hours per week).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Receive on-the-job training in basic measurements, assembly, safety, blueprint reading, and many other manufacturing processes
  • Rebuild dies and components Under supervision, operates machine tools and equipment, such as manual lathes, mills, drill presses, cut off saws and CNC turning and milling equipment

  • Clean and assemble components as required.
  • Clean work areas as needed.
  • Perform maintenance on machines as required
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment in all working areas.
  • Repair and modify equipment with instructions from supervisor.
  • Complete basic shop related duties as needed when not assigned to a specific test.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience: No prior experience is required, 1-2 years in shop environment preferred.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills

Other Requirements: Basic mechanical skills required. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Possessing some knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals is preferred.
