Senior Manager, Marketing Communications

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Senior Manager, Marketing Communications based in Charlotte, NC. 

The Senior Manager, Marketing Communications leads projects and initiatives that elevate the overall perception of NASCAR, promote and drive consumption among new and existing fans, and help the company advance key growth initiatives. Areas of external and internal communications support include Marketing, Digital Media, Content and Esports; and other marketing activities that may arise at the company and across the sport.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage communications programs that drive consumption of NASCAR on TV, in-person and online, conduct activities that help the sport appeal to key marketing segments
  • Develop and execute communications activities that drive engagement with NASCAR.com, social media channels, the Mobile app and various digital products/fan experiences, contributing to the growth of NASCAR’s digital and content platform
  • Steer day-to-day communications for NASCAR’s fast-growing esports platform; collaborate with gaming partners and source creative opportunities to advance the company’s overall gaming narrative
  • Provide strategic communications expertise, working in lockstep with Entertainment Marketing, to promote original content projects and entertainment integrations
  • Provide ongoing strategic earned media support to elevate positive storylines about the sport; consistently generate quality traditional and non-traditional earned media coverage; develop rapport and maintain positive relationships with consumer/trade media journalists
  • Continuously mine for opportunities to elevate the profile of NASCAR and company leadership; manage awards submissions, strengthen the brand’s presence at industry events, etc.
  • Contribute to employee engagement via weekly planning and content development for the company’s internal communications channels
  • Create well-written materials, including but not limited to strategic planning documents, media pitches, press releases, message points, etc.
  • Track and analyze results; prepare recap materials
  • Assist Senior Director in managing departmental budget and tracking expenditures
  • Collaborate with the broader Communications team and provide support during significant events (races, announcements, etc.) and special projects, task forces, etc., as needed
  • Approximate travel 15%, including some weekends

Required skills / experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in communications; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in sports preferred but not required
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability effectively communicate to all levels of management
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently but also be a strong team player
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required
