Prototype and Test (Research and Development) Apprenticeship

Williams are recruiting for exciting apprentice opportunity in our Prototype and test (Research and Development) department. We are looking for enthusiastic individual who have a passion for engineering, along with the confidence, belief and determination to succeed in a company that offers variety, interest and responsibility with great engineering prospects for the future.

As a Prototype and test apprentice you will carry out a range of tasks within the department, providing support to the Test Technicians/engineers in all areas, learning the basic skills, knowledge and expertise to enable you to become more involved in tasks required to test parts and assemblies for F1 cars and other engineering projects. The test work ranges from prototype build to performance, legality and structural test of everything from individual components to full vehicles.
You will also get an opportunity to work with our internal electronics, control software and design engineers, and develop both fabrication and machining skills.

This is a 4-year Apprenticeship where you will attend OAS in Culham in which you will graduate as an Engineering Technician. You can find out more information about OAS over at: https://www.oas.ukaea.uk/ .

As part of your first-year training you will attend OAS full time with some keep in touch days held here at Williams. At the end of your first year at college you will then return and do block release to attend college, at this stage in some areas you will be expected to become part of the teams shift pattern which we will give you more information about in the interview process.

We are interested in applicants from a variety of backgrounds, who are committed to pursuing vocational qualifications in engineering. A minimum 5 GCSE’s at grade C or above is required including Maths and English. A keen interest in engineering is vital to be successful in this position so please do advise on your CV of any hobbies or extracurricular activities which would help support your application. Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will receive support accordingly; this is including regular performance evaluations with the nominated manager to aid professional and personal development. Successful applicants will be able to communicate effectively, have a positive attitude to work and a mature outlook. A flexible attitude to work and hours is essential, as well as being a good team player.

Closing date is Monday 12th October - Initial virtual Teams call will be on Monday 19th, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a 2 days assessment centre on the 22nd and 23rd of October. College will start on Monday the 2nd of November and we will invite you onsite Friday 30th October for an orientation afternoon.
