The Little Car Company

As it says in the name, we make little cars. But they're more than a little bit special.

The Little Car Company is the world expert in producing exceptional junior cars in partnership with the most elite car manufacturers. This unique partnership guarantees that every vehicle is an official licensed product of the brand. We expertly hand-build each car in the UK, and it is this level of care and attention that delivers the stunning quality for which we are famed.

Our brand philosophy is to produce beautiful cars that allow our clients to share the love of driving across generations, and encourage every driver to create memorable experiences today and for years to come.

We’re currently working with Bugatti, Aston Martin and Ferrari, with multiple partnerships in the pipeline.

We work with the best car manufacturers in the business, so are only looking to recruit amazing talent to our team. Our exceptionally talented team are fuelled by a determination to create truly remarkable vehicles, whilst having a ton of fun along the way.

Behind the scenes, our production team brings together a culmination of exceptional engineering expertise from a range of testing environments. Their attention to detail and eye for quality are matched only by their inventive spirit, meaning every vehicle that rolls out of the manufacturing facility features that little bit of engineering magic, befitting of the marques they are representing. Meanwhile, the client services team is on hand to ensure we deliver a personalised customer experience that is second-to-none.

The role:

We need an enthusiastic and experienced Project Manager to help design the next generation of our little cars. We work in a fast-paced environment and a ‘can do’ attitude is essential. You’ll report into the Senior Project Manager, but will work closely with the CEO and across the whole business ensuring all projects are delivered on time, cost and spec.

The day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Own whole vehicle projects, making sure that everything happens as and when it supposed to, and to budget.
  • Initial creation of product definition and project plan, and ensuring ongoing adherence throughout the development process.
  • Work with the projects team to balance the competing priorities of other projects.
  • Supporting the Engineering & Manufacturing team to manage and deliver projects.
  • Be the contact point for key suppliers, ensuring the supplier delivers to requirement, including leading regular meetings.
  • Work closely with the Commercial team to help bring the product to market, supporting marketing requests and events.
  • Lead the project transition from development into production.
  • Manage the fleet of prototype vehicles.
  • Be the TLCC Engineering contact for our OEM partners, presenting monthly project updates and working with the TLCC Commercial team to deliver to partner expectations.
  • Communicate project updates with key internal stakeholders and the wider business.
  • You will be self-organising and self-motivating. You will be the backstop to make sure everything happens when it needs to.
  • You actively look for problems and potential issues before they happen.
  • You will be hands on and will actively try and reduce the amount of administration / paperwork in the business.

What you bring to the table:

Essential:

  • A proven track record in project management, ideally within a niche, low volume or motorsport vehicle manufacturing environment. Keeping projects on time and on budget.
  • An understanding of the key stages associated with vehicle design, development and manufacture.
  • Skilled at ensuring project requirements are met.
  • A broad understanding of the manufacturing techniques used in the automotive & motorsport sector.
  • Experience of safety and compliance testing and procedures.
  • Some engineering knowledge and the ability to cover many bases.
  • Huge attention to detail making sure nothing falls between the gaps.
  • Flexibility to re-plan as priorities change. Lateral thinking.
  • Able to integrate with a wide range of individuals to maximise team effectiveness
  • A proactive attitude, always looking for opportunities to improve process and the efficiency of the company.
  • Ability to think holistically and balance business priorities.

Nice to have:

  • A love of classic, as well as modern cars.
  • Breadth of experience outside pure automotive, such as aerospace.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing / 3D printing.
  • Knowledge of carbon fibre bodywork production.
  • Experience of sourcing suppliers.
  • Knowledge of heritage manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Hands on engineering experience.

Generally:

  • Comfortable working in a fairly unstructured environment where you have plenty of autonomy – we’re a pretty flat structure, as we expect everyone to be high-performing and self-managing. It’s an entrepreneurial environment which keeps things interesting, but isn’t for everyone!
  • Switched on and can take the initiative, you don't need to be told what to do all the time. We want people who look for problems and solve them without being asked.
  • Self-motivating – you’ll have full support along the way, but we won’t hold your hand throughout.
  • Ability to use Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook / Microsoft Project. Experience in Slack is useful, but not critical.
  • A confident communicator – you will be liaising with many areas of the business on a daily basis.

Details / perks

  • Full time at The Little Car Company’s brand new HQ at Bicester Heritage, the UK’s first automotive campus. It is a stunning place for any car enthusiast to be based.
