Paint Pre-Treatment Operator - 2nd Shift

Your responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares for shift’s pretreat system operation by conducting a variety of checks to include: weekly visual inspection of spray nozzles at all stages (1-9), daily check of day tank chemical levels upon reaching 20 gal., ensuring caustic and acid chemical levels and changing drums upon reaching 4 inches, checking stage solution pH levels, conductivity, and temperatures by way of Main Control Panel, and monitoring temperatures of curing oven and blow-off tunnels, recording all items to log.
  • Performs walk-around inspection of pretreatment system, clearing any possible obstructions to conveyor, and records all items to log. Confirms operation’s readiness with other line functions before system start-up.
  • Constantly monitors operation and performs required wastewater effluent tests and regeneration of DI system, backwash of sand filter, and cleaning of heat exchangers as needed.
  • Ensure all alarms are off during proper system operation, and notifies Team Lead or Supervisor of any problem.
  • Records all titration and any other quality check results, as well as TPM values in a Microsoft database on a daily basis
  • Performs routine daily housekeeping duties at shift’s end, and as directed by Team Lead or Supervisor. Responsible for compliance with all posted work instructions, including quality and safety.
  • Performs manual hand painting of products, as well as loads and unloads the paint line in an efficient manner that keeps production running.
  • Maintains frequent visual inspections on all products for proper appearance and cosmetic defects. Tags any non-conforming parts with re-work labels and places in re-work bin.
  • Maintains a clean workstation and cleans-up production areas as required.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn other functions within the paint line.
  • Communicates ideas and problems to engineers.
  • Identifies discrepant products/materials both in writing and verbally to Supervisor.
  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Your profile

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of titration with ability to perform quantitative chemical analysis to determine the unknown concentration of an identified analyte. (ex: PH Value, DI Water, Zinc Phosphate ).
  • Possesses a stable work history, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and a strong personal desire to work safely and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, including working with decimals, and strong mechanical aptitude. Possesses a logical method of problem solving and willingness to learn and improve one’s skills. Demonstrates a strong commitment to meet and exceed customer requirements at all times.
  • Position is require to be able to work required overtime that can be substantial during peak customer production periods.
  • Possesses good hand-eye coordination and is able to perform detailed work with a strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Position is required to be able to lift up to 40 pounds, perform repetitious duties and walk or stand for long periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Position is required to be able to read and understand work instructions
  • Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
