MECHANIC

Job Purpose  

The position of Mechanic for Exotics Racing generally serves as a high-performance engine technician, professionally responsible for keeping vehicles running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Mechanics will typically work on maintaining high- performance vehicles.  Using computer diagnostic equipment, the Mechanic tests the cars to ensure they are operating correctly and identifies potential problems; also works on high performance steering and suspension, drive-lines, electrical and ignition systems.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains vehicle functionality by conducting inspections, repairing engine failures and drive train, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, replacing parts, components and repairing body damage;
  • Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, replacing filters, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing;
  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems;
  • Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards;
  • Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs;
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs;
  • Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options;
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt of inventory;
  • Stays on top of industry trends and job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications;
  • Seeks to meet organizational mission at an individual level through partnering with supervisory staff and communicating goals;
  • Manage and secure confidential information;
  • Regular and consistent attendance;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

May be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable; may be exposed to hazardous equipment and/or hazardous conditions requiring the need to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves; may require working in very hot or very cold temperatures; may require working under covered structure with roof but no walls; requires working outdoors exposed to all weather conditions. Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.  Uses hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.   Performs repetitive physical activities without stopping.  Requires contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone or otherwise).  Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.

Qualifications 

 Experience and Education:

  • A-Level Mechanic
  • Master Technician Certification preferred
  • Previous mechanic position specializing in foreign models preferred
  • Computer knowledge and experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Automotive Technician
  • Clean driving record.
