Job Description

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of a General Maintenance – Mechanic/Track Services based at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Homestead, FL.

This position is responsible for the routine preventative maintenance, repairs and track services duties. Operating a variety of equipment.  Basic office systems knowledge including but not limited to computer systems and programs, and cellular phone.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visually inspects, operates and listens to equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Dismantles and reassembles trucks, machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas and make repairs.
  • Examines part for damage or excessive wear and determines re-usability.
  • Changes fluids and lubricates equipment and related components.
  • Performs all preventive maintenance functions.
  • Welds, cuts and fabricates.
  • Tests repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Requisitions parts and equipment with Supervisors approval.
  • Keeps records and reports.
  • Provides general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Operate equipment as needed.
  • Employee will be responsible for track preparation, maintenance, and restoration.
  • Track cleaning (sweeping, blowing, applying and picking up absorbent, washing/scrubbing fluids off of the track, etc.).
  • Reconfiguring the track between oval, full road course, modified road course, short road course, and drag strip.
  • General maintenance around the facility, including painting.
  • Ability to operate many different pieces of equipment including vehicles, lifts, and other heavy machinery.
  • Installing and storing signage throughout the property.
  • Assist with fleet management and inventory.
  • Physical demands include the following:
    1. Regularly required to stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
    2. Frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    3. Occasionally required to sit; and taste or smell. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Hours will vary but will include all hours of operation, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary to work events and to fulfill job responsibilities. Acceptance of work hours customary in the field of sport/entertainment is necessary.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Florida driver’s license required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud but can be very loud at times.
