ELECTRONICS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

We are looking to recruit a talented and versatile electronics engineer to join the Electronic Group working on the F1 racing programme. You will be responsible for a diverse range of projects either used on the car itself or in direct support of its development and rig testing. Projects range from selecting and implementing control system sensors through to the design and development of small mixed digital and analogue devices.

The role will suit an engineer who enjoys owning their own projects from concept to delivery and who is not afraid to get hands-on when necessary. Familiarity with ARM/Microchip micro-controllers, embedded C code, PCB layout in Altium Designer, CAN buses and motorsport sensors would be a definite advantage in delivering this role. Working as part of the team that is responsible for the entire on car system you will be able to draw on the group’s experience and support when delivering and integrating your projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of electronics design including digital, analogue, power and high-temperature electronics.
  • Awareness of F1 regulation and legislation directions
  • Knowledge of wider electronics technology developments and market forefront products
  • Full life-cycle electronics unit and sensor development experience, from concept to production.
  • Formula 1 experience, including the knowledge required to instrument and control on-car, wind tunnel and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently, without support or close oversight.
  • PCB/schematic design experience using Altium, including designing rigid/flex, HDI and high reliability PCBs for harsh environments.
  • High quality embedded firmware development on embedded (ARM and Microchip) targets.
  • PC Software development for production/test/calibration tooling.
  • Ability to manage and plan own workload within a dynamic and time constrained environment.
