Job Description

BASIC DESCRIPTION:

The Central Finance Department provides financial leadership and guidance to the Enterprise through multiple shared services. The Accounting Manager will play a key role within the department by providing overall leadership, strategic business partnership, and Divisional coordination of Enterprise financial planning and reporting. This position will manage the finance team, act as a coach and developer of talent, driving proactive engagement across the team. This position will partner with the Central Finance Division Controller for various financial projects including Annual Plan and data analysis of key business metrics that drive management decisions.

This position is based in Appleton, WI.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position serves a key leadership role within the Central Finance Department. The Accounting Manager will work with the Division Controller to ensure accuracy of financial records and integrity of data shared with management, supervise top 13 internal controls and compliance to ITW's policies and procedures and applicable laws.

  • Be a strong strategic contributor to the business by partnering with other management team members to drive new ideas and provide fresh insight within the business.
  • Support Divisional Controller with financial consolidation of Annual Plan, Long-Range Plan, process improvements and simplification projects.
  • Proven results in managing, developing, and training talent among the team of Accountants, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable roles.
  • Coordinate monthly close to ensure timely preparation, analysis and management reporting communicating key financial and operating metrics to key stakeholders.
  • Be analytical, inquisitive, and crisp in explaining the story behind the numbers and have a strong ability to understand macro and micro trends and quickly discern inaccuracies.
  • Lead the outlook process and be capable of coordinating input from shared services department managers toward providing an accurate financial picture.
  • Be a strong motivational champion of the ITW Toolbox; utilizing 80/20 in all critical thinking toward applying sound judgment to analyze processes, identifying, and acting upon opportunities to reduce complexity.
  • Monthly interaction with Divisional Controllers and the leadership team communicating rebates, allocations, and related business drivers, necessary for effective management.
  • Compile and provide sales overhead reporting, contribution margin analysis, variable sales compensation tracking, trade spend reporting, discount analysis, and capital asset management tools to support the Sales Team and provide timely data and insights for senior leaders to assist with decision-making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting plus a minimum of seven years of general accounting experience. MBA or CPA is preferred.
  • Proven history of leadership, collaboration, and strong interpersonal verbal/written skills, demonstrating a positive attitude, personal accountability, coaching abilities, effective listening skills, and approachability.
  • Experience with budgeting, model variance analysis, and forecasting.
  • Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment and solve practical business problems in a prompt manner and often under tight deadlines.
  • Willing to develop self and others with potential for future opportunities in the organization.
  • Detail oriented with strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively with customers, suppliers, and all employees as well as an ability to develop positive and productive peer relationships
  • Experienced in the implementation and application of ITW toolbox tools, including the Front to Back Process; preferred
  • Ability to resolve issues/conflicts in timely manner
  • Aggressive initiative-taker with the ability to work independently on projects under minimal supervision.
  • Advanced MS Excel skill, Level 3 preferred and excellent knowledge of MS Word
  • ERP and Financial Reporting software experience required, D365 expertise preferred
