3rd Shift Machine Operator

thyssenkrupp Bilstein of America manufactures and distributes world class, premium quality monotube shock absorbers for Original Equipment Automobile Manufacturers, Aftermarket outlets, and Motorsports. Bilstein has long been a global leader in the development of technologies and manufacturing processes for suspension components, including Monotube and Twin Tube Shock Absorbers, Stabilizer Bars, and Coil Springs.

The main manufacturing facility for the US is located in Hamilton, Ohio and currently employees over 500 employees.  Slated to begin a $26 million dollar capital investment into the Hamilton facility beginning in August of 2014, Bilstein will be looking to add an additional 215 full-time positions over the next three years.

Your responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Assembles component parts to specifications in a manner, which is consistent with the company’s quality and productivity standards.
    • Inspect all parts for cosmetic defects.  Examples:  scratches in paint, scratches in chrome on piston rods, damaged dust covers, etc.
    • Inspect all parts for proper assembly.  Examples:  stake mark on piston rod, snap ring seated in internal groove, engraving in place and legible, etc.
    • Tag any non-conforming parts with re-work labels and place in re-work bin.
    • Ensure all parts are assembled per specification.
    • Maintain a clean workstation.
    • Learn and support company quality policy.
    • Assemble all parts per company specifications.
    • Set up machines per work instructions.
    • Assemble parts per drawings.
    • Assemble parts to meet customer expectations.
    • Demonstrate willingness to do whatever it takes to meet customer requirements:  Examples:  Work Saturdays on short notice, Work overtime on short notice, etc.
    • Learn all machines in work area.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to move to other lines and workstations to fill company needs.
    • Assemble parts to meet customer expectations.
    • Follows all safety guidelines, required to wear Personal Protective Equipment

Your profile

 

Required Qualifications:

    • Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Use of hand tools and equipment .
    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
