SummaryLead by the Track Operations Manager, the Track Operations Coordinator will provide supervision and management of the track services team for Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMax Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the coordination and setup of all on track rental activities and logistics throughout the year. Making sure all departments and facilities are aware and ready to go with advance notice.
  • Assist in the coordination of racing and safety protocols and standard operating of racing series
  • Responsible for the setup and safety of on track logistics including the setup of concrete barriers, tire walls/packs, safer barrier
  • Assist the Track Operations Manager with track operations setup, track services, and track rental
  • Ensure rental customer checklist is detailed and complete for every rental.
  • Assist in generating all track rental invoicing weekly, including repair or additional costs that a rental customer may incur.
  • Keep Track Services equipment maintained and in good serviceable condition.
  • Gain basic proficency in all track services job duties. Included but not limited to Recovery, Restoration, Extrication, Clean Up, and EMS.
  • Work daily with the Event Operations Team for all events set up, clean up and tear down. Including but not limited to moving/setting up bleachers, bike rack, concrete walls, tire packs, rumble strips, Oval, Roval, track prep etc.
  • Become proficient in all necessary operational pieces of equipment. Including but not limited to forklifts, vac trucks, tractors, jet dryers, blowers and anything necessary to get a rental ready for the customer. Must be comfortable with or be willing to learn operations of lifts, loaders and telehandlers.
  • Gain knowledge and be able to operate all audio visual equipment needed for rental customers.
  • Participate in training and coordination of all event response and equipment.
  • Flexible work schedule in accordance to specific track rentals and larger scale events throughout the year
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of track operations including equipment operation, racing safety standards, and track services
  • Knowledge of a variety of event management and customer service practices
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for track and event setup
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skills in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Skill in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with CMS staff and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work involves moderate to heavy work and equipment operation in all types of weather. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (above 50 lbs) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. This position involves being on site during all events that occur after normal business hours, weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED and one (2) years of track operations, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid driver’s license is required.
