In 2019 Joe and Guenther decided to launch an AS9100 / ISO certified sister company called Composite Factory. Composite Factory’s primary focus is to diversify our business into Aerospace, Aero structures, Aviation and Defense, and the Medical industries that require a higher level of traceability and certification. Job Role:

  • Complete a departmental rotation to learn FWC’s processes, ending in Engineering
  • Ensure company profitability by continuous improvement and recognizing design and process flaws to eliminate them in the future
  • Foster strong collaboration with the profitability and quoting group to keep project costs on target
  • Work with Engineering Managers to develop departmental consistency and improvements, workshop improvements and release them in an organized manner
  • Provide oversight and mentorship for a designated team of engineers, review and sign off on designs, drawings and documentation
  • Lead projects as assigned, assist in scheduling, workload resource distribution, and engage in high level communication with customers
  • Produce accurate 3D models, preliminary layouts, laminating production details, in line with scheduled release dates
  • Prepare drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of composite parts and / or data submittal to the customer
  • Act as a shop liaison during initial production of new product designs to prevent and/or solve any engineering issue that may arise
  • Identify problems and develop solutions
  • Maintain awareness of emerging solutions and technologies that may be applied to composite manufacturing
  • Collaborate with vendors to examine supplier lead times, costs and availability for parts and tooling necessary to manufacture the product being designed
  • Maintain and build relationships with customers
  • Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Aerospace composite experience, particularly in Aero Structures, preferred
  • Must have minimum 5+ years’ experience in design engineering
  • Must have a sound understanding using CAD software to design composites
  • Basic understanding of tolerances and their implications in the composite manufacturing process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor activities with varying conditions
  • Requires walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • May involve operating material handling equipment in a safe manner
  • Work may include exposure to variable noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc., requiring personal protective equipment
  • Some positions may require working with small parts/components, necessitating excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
