Junior Aerodynamicist

Alpine F1 Team have a tremendously exciting opportunity for a recent Graduate to join the Aerodynamics team as a Junior Aerodynamicist. Based in rural Enstone, Alpine Juniors receive all the support needed to have a real impact on the performance of the car - and the opportunity to own their part in F1 history.

We are looking for someone who is high performing, tenacious and motivated. If this sounds like you then please apply to become a part of the Enstone family.

Working within one of the aerodynamic development teams, the role contributes to conceptual and iterative aerodynamic development to the benefit of overall track race car performance.

The role will require the Junior Aerodynamicist to liaise with other teams in the aero department including: model designers, surfacers, CFD methodology, track side aerodynamicists, WT technicians and model makers.

Proactively use skills and develop knowledge to improve the methodology and procedures used in developing the assigned car area.

Key Responsibilities:

High level understanding of flow physics and fundamentals. Ability to deploy aerodynamic theory in the solution of specific problems.

Experience of WT testing and understanding of techniques and technologies in use. This position will involve some shift work in the WT including occasional weekend and night shifts as required.

Create and run CFD cases and analyse the results generated, engaging with methodology colleagues and ensuring that correlation with other domains is monitored.

Using CATIA 3DX, create CAD surface geometry to support the development process to the standards required by department procedures and with a view to practicality for full size car application.

Produce quality CAD schemes; this aspect also involves full legality checks of the surfaces created. Run CFD cases and produce detailed reports with analysis of the main aero effects and flow structures.

Create job specs for WT programmes, including prefit specs and test specs.

Follow programmes in the WT and produce reports with analysis of the main aero effects.

The Person

A high achiever educated to at least Bachelor level in Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent discipline with significant aerodynamic content.

Excellent communication, liaison and team working skills, recognising that working together with colleagues in other disciplines is essential to the efficient function of the department.
