Market Analyst - Tires & Steel Wheels

Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, the Market Analyst is responsible for following current and future trends in the tire and steel wheel market to ensure our database, websites and B2B are current as well as find new opportunities and maintain profitable relationships with our target markets and suppliers.

The Market Analyst is a resourceful self-starter, driven to achieve positive results, he also possesses a high level of comfort working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment. The ability to manage a variety of diverse projects, from start to finish, simultaneously, is essential to the successful execution of the role.

The candidate will also be expected to perform any other related duties requested by the immediate supervisor according to internal procedures and rules.

POSITION DUTIES

Market Analysis and Targeting Opportunities 55%

  1. Maintain database, B2B and websites to ensure all products are current and correct.
  2. Keep an eye on the evolution of new trends in the tire and steel wheel market.
  3. Maintain good relationships with our key customers on a regular basis to determine needs.
  4. Review literature and websites of competitors and suppliers.   
  5. Review the market monthly to determine competitive prices and propose changes.
  6. Perform bi-annual competitive analyses (e.g. freight analysis, inventory review, promotions etc).
  7. Evaluate inactive products and create strategies to foster a market for them.
  8. Conduct investigations to determine the level of interest for new products.
  9. Analyze sales and market trends for each product line.

Promotion 20%

  1. Prepare promotional brochures on a monthly basis to clear merchandise surpluses, reduce inventory, promote new products and offer promotions.
  2. Collaborate with the advertising department to ensure ad campaigns are efficient.
  3. Participate in trade shows and activities related to our industry.

Product Development 25%

  1. Work closely with the product and quality/technical services departments to create new products and coordinate projects from the beginning to the end of the lifecycle.
  2. Recommend order quantities as needed.
  3. Perform and present post-mortem analyses at the end of each season. (bi-annual)
  4. Plan and deliver products which meet specified performance and cost criteria within established timelines.
  5. Establish and maintain relationship with all factories and key stakeholders.
  6. Involvement in new product concept brainstorming meetings.
  7. Primary liaison with overseas vendors for Product Development from artwork to product specification, sculpting and sample approval.
  8. Ensure the accuracy of product and packaging samples and seek approvals required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing with strong statistical skills.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in a similar position.
  • Written and verbal bilingualism (French and English).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, expertise with Excel.

This job requires occasional travel in Canada and abroad.
