The Role

Job Summary & Responsibilities:
The VP, Digital Partnerships and Distribution (full-time, salaried, regular) will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives that build the MotorTrend masterbrand while expanding the distribution of our Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) service. This role will focus on building subscribers through marketing and distribution, working closely in conjunction with other business units across the company. Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Grow existing and develop new SVOD distribution streams through a variety of partnerships, promotions and platforms, including:
    • OEMs and Associations
    • Organizations, Clubs and Associations that include auto enthusiast members (e.g. AAA, AARP)
    • Affiliates
    • Carriers
    • Tech Companies
    • Digital Platforms
    • Automotive Partners
  • Work alongside Business Development team and Ad-Sales team to deliver 360 deals, incorporating 360 degree deals with multiple business solutions for partners.
  • Build and maintain existing partnerships, through effective account management.
  • Work with product teams to identify user needs, understand partner platforms and product solutions to deliver UX.
  • Research, analyze, model, and recommend initiatives based on emerging trends and competitive threats.
  • Develop, execute, and refine strategies to meet goals and targets.
  • Liaise with Discovery Digital Business Development team, who manage many affiliate accounts.
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities, maintain a new business pipeline and set budgets for future periods.
  • Design presentations and proposals and pitch to win business.
  • Provide reporting and forecasting as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position may include supervising one or more employees where applicable. Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Provide consistent training, support, and mentorship to team.
    • Review and approve individual timecards (as needed) and time-off requests to ensure optimal staffing levels.
    • Effective, fair, and consistent performance management.
    • Fairly and consistently ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent presentation and financial skills, including use of major presentation platforms to a high level of competence.
  • Concise verbal and written communication and persuasion skills.
  • Proactive, innovative, dynamic and creative in problem solving.
  • Able to work as a leader and effectively within a team to get things done.
  • Excellent organization skills with strict attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Able to adapt and handle fast paced environments and changing priorities.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in media and/or subscription business development and/or sales.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior relationships and experiences with media and digital brands such as Verizon, Comcast, Google, Roku, etc.
  • Prior experience or deep interest in automotive would be a benefit.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view computer screen.
  • Travel as needed.

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment that is well lit and ventilated.
