Transport & Logistics Supervisor

As a Transport & Logistics Team Leader, you will be based in Stevenage and assume the day-to-day responsibilities of multi-depot drivers and routing for the National Rental Team within the HTP industry. You will be responsible for supervising, managing, and coordinating the activities of remote depot delivery drivers.

Job Purpose

As a Transport & Logistics Team Leader, your main purpose is to supervise and effectively manage the remote depot delivery drivers and their activities. You will also be responsible for managing the drivers' performance, handling attendance, behavior, grievances, and time management. Additionally, you will be involved in processing all hire and off-hire notes through the company database and potential transport app. You will play a key role in planning efficient and effective routes for drivers and ensuring their compliance with driving hours and working time directives.

Principal Accountabilities
- Supervise, manage, and coordinate the activities of remote depot delivery drivers.
- Manage drivers' performance and handle attendance, behavior, grievances, and time management.
- Process hire and off-hire notes through the company database and transport app.
- Ensure timely collection of items within 72 hours and rebook failed collections or put them back on hire.
- Update systems to maintain accurate asset locations.
- Liaise with the Asset Controller and Workshop for the availability of plant and equipment.
- Plan efficient and quickest routes for drivers using various vehicle tracking systems.
- Ensure drivers' compliance with driving hours and working time directives.
- Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks for personnel.
- Maintain Company FORS standards, ensuring completion of driver training and toolbox talks.
- Continuously monitor the quality of work through regular audits and address reported defects.

- Multitask and prioritize efficiently due to the multi-faceted nature of the role.
- Ensure compliance with RAMS, lift plans, and our company's health and safety processes.
- Ensure compliance of 3rd party haulage with company health and safety processes.
- Investigate incidents and road traffic collisions (RTCs) in accordance with company guidelines and procedures.
- Comply with the company's undertakings towards the Operator License, driving hours, and working time directives.
- Adhere to Plant & Fleet policies, procedures, and risk assessments.

Skills, Know How and Experience
- Relevant experience within the Transport & Logistics industry is essential.
- Appointed Person qualification is desirable.
- Transport Manager CPC or previous experience is desirable.
- Good people leadership and development skills, able to pass knowledge onto others.
- Highly motivated and willing to go the extra mile.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
- Proven IT skills and experience using tablets and PDAs.
- Good knowledge of general plant and equipment.
- Experience using Insphire and/or Jaama Key2 is desirable.
