Systems Engineer

General Summary

  • Reporting to the Chief Race Engineer.
  • Responsibility for managing the Car Systems of our Formula E car at all events in the Formula E World Championship.
  • Management of all car Electrical, Electronic, Sensors, Software and ECU systems.
  • Monitoring and reporting of car hardware subsystems.
  • Assist to develop performance systems for use with the ECU code.
  • Assist to develop the performance of the car and team.
  • Support Simulator events for car performance development and assist to develop our simulator capability.
  • Part of trackside performance team to deliver best team performance at every event.
  • Work within the team to collectively develop the engineering capability of the team.
  • Work independently and within a team group to define and deliver projects for races, tests and simulation events.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven high level Race Car Systems Engineering experience.
  • Expertise at Matlab/Simulink. ECU code. Atlas/System Monitor.
  • Experience of CAN and Ethernet systems.
  • Experience of Control Systems Engineering
  • Strong Science, Physics and Data driven background and work ethic.
  • Good communications skills with a strong requirement to work effectively within a team to develop, progress and adopt car performance concepts.
  • Work calmly, professionally and make good decisions within tight deadlines and high pressure environments.
  • A positive approach and a willingness to support colleagues.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

Work Environment Physical Demands

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require extensive domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.
