Job Description

A new position has become available for a highly motivated and creative individual to join the Structural Analysis section.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and talented young engineer with strong interest in structural analysis using FEA methods to join the leading F1 Team. Good understanding of mechanisms, load paths and structures is a must. Some level of knowledge of Hyperworks and Abaqus would be beneficial but not strictly required. In addition to being passionate about motorsport and technology, the candidate will have to possess a natural aptitude to push technical boundaries and to work outside comfort zone.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Structural Analysis Group – Mechanical Section leader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Structural analysis of highly complex car and test rig components and assemblies to the highest standards
  • Close collaboration with other engineering departments to ensure fully optimised designs achieving optimal car performance and reliability
  • Continuous improvement of simulation and analysis methodologies and processes
  • Simulation and track data analysis, including live event support
  • Specification and documentation of test requests and stress reports

Candidate Profile

As well as being a passionate, hardworking team player, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Mechanical engineering degree (2:1 minimum grade) or similar qualification with a first experience in automotive, F1, another top level motorsport category or an equivalent high level engineering industry
  • Thorough understanding of FEA methods is essential
  • Core knowledge in fatigue, non-linear material behaviour and contact analysis is essential
  • Ability to perform hand calculation is required
  • Experience of Catia V5 design and FEA packages (Hyperworks / Abaqus) would be an advantage
  • Ambitious and talented young engineer with a desire to advance their personal development
  • Excellent communicative and collaborative skills are essential
