Series Electrical Project Manager

BackgroundPurpose of Role

The Series Electrical Project Manager has overall responsibility to deliver the electrical systems and controls content for all Series Vehicle programmes and model year updates. The role holds responsibility for delivering of content across both Vehicle Electronics and Software functions to committed program timing, budget and quality.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Manages the overall feature implementation plan for the project, aligning developing content with validation plans and project high-level plans.
  • Responsible for all the vehicle electronics technical deliverables (attributes, DVP, DFMEAs, Part Release) of the project, in accordance with the McLaren Development Process (MDP) and ISO26262 requirements.
  • Align and collaborate with Series TVM Manager to determine scope of Series projects while always maintaining a customer focus.
  • Driving quality into McLaren products through robust management and resolution of quality concerns.
  • Responsible for the Electronics commercial deliverables (D&D/Tooling/BOM costs) for Series projects, in collaboration with the Electronics Departmental Managers.
  • Define and manage the electrical content budget for the project, in collaboration with the project responsible Departmental Managers.
  • Represent the Electronic Systems and Controls department within the project team, reporting information, concerns and milestone achievements in relevant wider business forums.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience with a demonstrated track record of project delivery.
  • Team leadership within the automotive industry or similar domain.
  • Electronics architecture experience (harness, CAN/LIN protocols, ECUs, sensors) in automotive Body/Chassis and Software/Hardware project delivery experience for automotive applications.
  • Supplier partnership management.
  • Automotive market trend knowledge and experience of business model development (e.g., make vs buy)
