Role Overview

The High Voltage (HV) Battery Team is responsible for the design of high voltage battery pack design. High voltage battery team is looking for a Sr. CAD Engineer who will lead design activities and review CAD design to ensure the design follows design rules and GD&T standard. This position requires extensive experience in GD&T and stack up analysis to review and work with design responsible engineers.  

Responsibilities

  • Design HV battery components and packs using Catia V6
  • Create 2D drawings from 3D CAD models using proper GD&T standard and tolerance 
  • Work on stack up analysis to calculate tolerance
  • Create BOM of each component and battery pack
  • Update 3D CAD, 2D drawings, and BOM
  • Work with design engineers and manufacturing engineers to create HV battery assembly sequence using Catia to make sure the battery assembly sequence is properly developed
  • Work with simulation team and update CAD based on simulation team’s input to improve strength and durability
  • Design exterior of battery housing which uses Aluminum extrusion and metal stamping
  • Design wire harness that connects battery cells to other electrical components and sensors
  • Support design release of 3D CAD models and 2D drawings 

Requirements

  • Practical knowledge and use of GD&T, ASME Y14.5M-1994 dimensioning and tolerances
  • Expertise in 3D modeling and creating 2D drawings in Catia V5 or V6 (Prefer) 
  • Understanding of revision control and Engineering Change Orders
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently
  • 5 Years in a design/drafting experience in various areas such as electrical components, wires, as well as mechanical parts
  • Good communication skills
  • Develop concept to 3D CAD model 
  • Work closely with design responsible engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of HV battery design experience  
  • Experience in Steel stamping and Aluminum extrusion
  • 10+ years experience in 2D/3D CAD design
