Rally Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Rally Manager to join the national governing body, Motorsport UK, taking ownership of the management of the British Rally Championship, rally event consultancy and supporting the management of the rally sporting discipline. Motorsport UK represents over 60,000 competitors and volunteers and over 720 clubs at the heart of motorsport. Under the leadership of the Chairman, David Richards CBE, we are investing in an exciting period of change to drive growth and create a sustainable future for motorsport in the UK.

Role Purpose

Central to this role is your ability to apply your comprehensive understanding of rallying in the UK and an ability to organise successful events and championships.

Your responsibilities as Rally Manager will include:

  • Promoting, administering and directing the British Rally Championship.
  • Choosing and developing the calendar.
  • Making the series appeal to domestic and international competitors.
  • Preparing and maintaining the series budget.
  • Preparing event participation agreements.
  • Recognising and prospecting any commercial opportunities for sponsorship and prizes.
  • Writing and maintaining the Sporting Regulations.
  • Attending Rally Steering Group meetings.
  • Preparing BRC Awards function and ordering the awards.
  • Being the liaison link for all championship stakeholders including competitors, events, partners and suppliers.
  • Appointing the media team and working on the promotion plan for the season and on event
  • Preparing and distributing a media review after each round/ the season.
  • Supporting with event rally and event consultancy.
  • Supporting the Rallies Executive as required, both with project work as well as day to day governance and regulatory activities.
  • Maintaining the Rally standards in Motor Sport.
  • Ensuring that the UK influences the setting of International Standards by FIA.
  • Allowing clubs, competitors and officials to enjoy Motor Sport in the UK by running safe, well organised events.
  • Supporting in the development of virtual rallying events (Sim Racing and Esports)

 

Person Profile

  • You will have a background in the rally sport discipline will be crucial in delivering the role.
  • You will likely have organised other rally related events and championships.
  • You may already be a Motorsport UK licenced official working in rallying.
  • You will be a self-starter, capable of working autonomously.
  • You will be highly organised and capable of managing a broad and ambitious workload and prioritising accordingly.
  • You will be highly adept with both PowerPoint and Excel, and conversant with a wide range of project tools from Microsoft suite, Adobe products, SharePoint, OneDrive etc.
  • You will understand the importance of working collaboratively with partners to deliver projects.
  • We operate in a fast-moving world and you will be expected to keep abreast of the environment, thinking on your feet, and applying yourself accordingly.

 

Terms

Working hours are typically 37.5 hours a week, often with some flexibility around start and finish times. With our sport taking place largely at weekends, there will be a requirement for travel and support outside of regular office hours, as well as a commitment to flex your schedule based on the delivery of specific projects and the need to meet strict deadlines.

  • A confident and effective communicator of your ideas with good presentation skills and the confidence to explain and sell ideas, while overcoming objections.
  • Time management skills and the ability to cope with several projects at a time.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when finalising work.
  • Advanced excel skills to generate meaningful insight on which to develop business cases.
  • Being open to feedback and willing to make changes to your work.
  • Effective networking skills to build contacts.
  • A thirst for knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A flexible, responsive and can-do attitude.
