Specialty Tires of America, Inc. (Indiana, PA), the oldest continuously operating tire manufacturing facility in North and South America, is seeking an entry-level Race Tire Development Compounder to learn how to develop and improve the performance of mixed rubber used in the production of race tires. Ideal candidates for this apprenticeship-like opportunity are enthusiastic about auto racing and being directly involved with improving the performance of racecars.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Attend race tire tests and interview drivers to evaluate performance of experimental compounds
- Report test findings to chemist and tire engineering
- Offer suggestions for improving race compounds
- Review production testing for race compounds to ensure quality
- Mix experimental laboratory compound batches
- Investigate race tire customer complaints
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least two years of college course work in Chemistry
- Desire for working on cars
- Willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with others and interact with customers
