Purchasing Manager

Mishimoto is the world leader in aftermarket performance cooling products.  As the Purchasing Manager, you’ll help us stay on top by managing all things purchasing. Your oversight leads to optimized inventory, waste elimination, accurate record keeping and cost-savings.  You provide strong and active management for our purchasing team furthering our special Team Mishi culture. 

What You’ll Do:

Centralized Purchasing for the Company

  • Manage the activities of the purchasing department by purchasing supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery cycle while maintaining lowest possible inventory levels.
  • Oversee the day to day purchasing operations, centralizing purchasing between locations which includes but is not limited to office and warehouse supplies, warehouse equipment, etc.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and inventory control procedures and sequence of operations within the department to optimize cost-effective inventory level.
  • Develop purchasing strategies to ensure we have just enough product in-house ready to be shipped, without having excess inventory levels. Ensure inventory values are in line with the projected need.
  • Use data (market, price, delivery conditions, and trends) to determine present and future material availability and needs, creating a just-in-time model for forecasting and subsequent purchasing. Forecasting is an art and you do it well.
  • Oversee removal of surplus material or obsolete products, accurately recording inventory reductions and notifying accounting of the change.
  • Review weekly inventory trends and discusses variations with the appropriate team member. Work side-by-side with the warehouse teams to minimize inventory discrepancies.
  • Address supplier issues when variations arise in delivery, quality, or price.
  • Responsible for negotiating purchased services, contract review, approval of terms and PO creation.
  • Report out on purchasing and cost-saving metrics and KPI’s.
  • Approve and submit invoices to accounting to process payment within agreed upon terms. Forwarding invoices to the appropriate party if needed. Communicate with vendors if corrections need to be made.
  • Responsible for development and active management of a comprehensive budget for the purchasing department, including participating in the annual budgeting process, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective action.
  • Create, execute, and maintain a purchasing strategy that achieves corporate objectives, such as risk-diversification, continuity of supply, cost reduction, and quality standards.
  • Manage, review, and execute supply contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and other similar legal documents.

Your Creds:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or other closely related field.
  • Master's level education preferred.
  • 7-10 years’ experience managing purchasing operations with international scope.
  • 5+ years’ experience in international purchasing and supplier relations.
  • Knowledge and experience working with budget planning and demand planning analysis tools.
  • Experience with international imports.
  • Experience with legal documents, language, and process related to supplier agreements
  • CPIM certification a plus
