Project Engineer

Project Engineer for a Oil & Gas Tech Business in Cambridgeshire

Location: North Cambridge
Type of Position: Full-time, permanent
Work Hours: 9-5pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: 45,000 - 60,000 depending on experience

We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our clients small but effective Project Engineering Team at their main office in Cambridgeshire. The Project Engineer plays a central role in their projects, managing engineering tasks, coordinating with customers, and ensuring contracts are completed successfully.

Important Note: This job isn't about hands-on technical work; they need someone who can offer expertise and support mainly from the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the engineering aspects of projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Coordinating the project team.
  • Handling communication with customers.
  • Leading various project meetings.
  • Managing changes to the project and maintaining design quality.
  • Ordering equipment needed for projects.
  • Supporting the proposals team with technical input.
  • Assisting with manufacturing.
  • Taking part in testing and inspections.
  • Providing regular reports on project progress.
  • Ensuring designs meet customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Creating project-specific engineering procedures and documents.
  • Checking that all drawings and documents meet project needs.
  • Meeting project milestones to maintain cash flow.
  • Approving supplier invoices.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in project engineering, preferably in the energy industry.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is helpful.
  • A degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, technical, and organizational skills.

This role is mostly based in the office, but occasional travel to workshops, suppliers, or customer sites may be necessary, both nationally and internationally (10% of the year).
