Production Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager to join our Manufacturing & Logistics team based in Dunsfold, Surrey in a permanent role.

Principal Accountabilities:

The Key accountabilities of the Manufacturing & Logistics department within Gordon Murray Automotive is to deliver customer vehicles whilst maintaining the highest quality standards, timing, cost and driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing & Logistics, you will lead a team in facilitating production of vehicles. You will ensure vehicle builds are completed to time, budget and specification and will oversee a team to complete all associated tasks.

As the Production Manager, you'll oversee the production process, coordinating all production activities and operations. You'll need to: plan and draw up a production schedule, decide on and order the resources that are required and ensure stock levels remain adequate.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • To ensure KPIs and SLAs are met by working with the Production Planning & Change Control Manager
  • To deliver a configured vehicle by specific dates and to specification
  • Set targets (daily, weekly, monthly) and report back to key internal stakeholders regarding productivity
  • Work with ERP and PLM systems to ensure each build is managed from start to finish
  • Product change control process running changes or hard changes agreed with key stakeholders on production vehicles
  • Ensure manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently
  • Estimate, negotiate and agree budgets, deadlines and timescales with various GMA depts and colleagues
  • Line manage staff performance, encourage and mentor staff to drive performance forward
  • Ensure best practice and continuous improvement is encouraged and policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Oversee the GMA production engineering team responsible for developing the process and associated tooling requirements
  • Ensure all GMA production equipment is stored appropriately, and staff are cross trained in the effective use of equipment
  • You will be fully accountable for ensuring the safety of your team, ensuring Health & Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Highlight any deficiencies and recommend positive change such as training, working practices or processes. Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders such as the Head of Manufacturing & Logistics to implement this
  • Conduct root cause analysis to problem solve and quickly resolve issues

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience in senior Production Line role
  • Experience in Automotive Manufacturing

  • Line management experience

  • Technical understanding

  • Strong Leadership, verbal and written communication skills

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) prior knowledge

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Data Analysis and reporting

  • Membership to an appropriate industry professional body desirable but not essential
