JOB DESCRIPTION

The Polisher prepares the surface of aluminum products for furthertreatments such as powder coating or anodization and is responsible forpolishing aluminum products to a mirror finish, free of defects. This isaccomplished by utilizing a combination of powered hand tools, large polishingmachines, and hand sanding.

Functions and duties include:

  • Prepare and/or polish the surface of aluminum products

  • Maintain all necessary equipment and tools; ensure work area is clean and secure

  • Follow all safety standards

  • Inspect work upon completion to ensure product meets or exceeds quality expectations

  • Assist and support other Polishers as needed

  • Keep management informed of area activities; identify problems and provide suggestions for improvement

  • Other duties as may be assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Physical Activity:

  • Must be able to walk frequently; stand for extended periods of time and repeatedly bend and move up to 50lbs frequently

  • Must have fine visual acuity, with the ability to discern surface defects in shiny metals

  • Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information

  • Must have good verbal skills, where one must frequently convey detailed and important instructions accurately, loudly and quickly

  • Must have good finger dexterity and frequently perform movements involving the hand, wrists and fingers

  • Must be able to physically reach in all directions and use upper body to push and/or pull

Job Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled plant environment

  • Must be able to work with exposure to dust and solvents (mineral spirits, acetone, alcohols, etc.)

  • Must be able to follow established safety practices, including the use of all Personal Protective Equipment required.

Required Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Polishing experience preferred, but not required

  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
