Metrology Inspector

Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):

The objective of this role is to support and conduct Metrology and Mechanical Inspection activities across all areas of the company. The primary purpose of this role is to aid in the commissioning of new production facilities including jigs and fixtures.

This role requires the successful candidate to measure components with limited supervision and provide technical guidance to Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering. The ability to work on own initiative and provide a professional, polite and accurate service is essential. Attention to detail and the capability to communicate in a clear, objective manner is key. In a growing and expanding Dept the vision to work towards providing accurate results, but with the willingness to suggest and develop new techniques will be a beneficial trait.

  • Detailed measurement of components to 2D drawings and 3D CAD.
  • Aid in the measurement and validation of production jogs and fixtures.
  • Assist in trials with new machines and/or software.
  • Advise on potential new technologies.
  • Produce professional, detailed measurement reports on various components and fixtures.
  • Represent Lotus and the Quality Dept in a professional manner to suppliers and technology partners.
  • Measure whole cars on an audit basis.

Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)

  • ONC in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience of 2D and 3D measurement techniques and equipment
  • Working knowledge of tolerancing
  • Working knowledge of manual inspection tools
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Statistical data analysis
  • Experience in working in a Metrology environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and terminology
