Mechanic (Part-Time)

Position Purpose:

Staff Mechanic is a key member of the Sonoma Raceway Driving Experience. The position reports to the Program Manager. This role will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all vehicles within the Sonoma Raceway Driving Experience fleet. The ideal candidate would have adequate technical knowledge (motorsports or general auto technician), the ability to take direction from a superior, and possess great attention to detail.

Position Responsibility:

  • Repair and prep KTM X-BOW vehicles/karts/streetcars.
  • Car alignment and corner balance.
  • Brake maintenance including, bleeding brakes and changing worn parts.
  • Mounting/balancing new tires.
  • Minor diagnostic skills, troubleshooting.
  • Electrical systems repair.
  • Preparation of vehicles for program days (detailing-interior and exterior). This usually happens the day before a program is run. Cars need to be staged “dealership style” specific to program days on the morning of the event.
  • Event day preparation and logistics
  • Work on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).
  • Generally assisting instructors in all matters pertaining to the fleet
  • Fueling of vehicles during short breaks/lunch breaks during program days.
  • Communicate information to SRDE management in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to Sonoma Raceway policies, procedures, and practices
  • Work in all-weather conditions
  • Normal physical strength to handle 25-50-pound objects taking frequency into consideration.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Clean and Valid Driver’s License.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of race track and motorsports industry preferred
  • Multi-task and establish priorities
  • Maintain organization in a changing environment
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility
  • Assertive, outgoing, and friendly with a desire for fun and a strong work ethic
  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office and Google sheets a plus
