Manager, Event Operations

This exciting role plans and executes the off-track elements of WRG-promoted and joint venture events.

Duties:

  • Manage, plan and execute all operational off-track aspects for World of Outlaws and DIRTcar promoted and/or joint venture events, including but not limited to:
    • Track operator relationship
    • Staffing, including push trucks as necessary
    • Coordination of pre and post-race activities
    • Timelines
    • Post event reconciliation and reports
    • Certificates of coverage
  • Serve as the liaison between the Series Director and the track operator
  • Manage, plan and execute all promotional and advertising aspects for World of Outlaws and DIRTcar promoted and/or joint ventures:
    • Utilize a variety of methods such as:
      • Grassroots/guerilla marketing
      • Digital advertising (i.e., social media and Google)
      • Traditional media (i.e., billboards, TV, radio and print)
    • Explore and create new promotional concepts
    • Review effectiveness of promotional campaigns and implement adjustments
    • Conceptualize and execute creative materials such as advertising scripts, social media campaigns and other promotional material; partner with WRG and/or event staff as necessary
  • Serve as the on-site manager for assigned events, ensuring successful execution of the operational off-track aspects
  • Review and inspect facilities to ensure that planned event(s) can be held safely for both competitors and fans
  • Develop and document best practices
  • Manage Event Coordinator(s); including selection, training, task assignment, and performance management
  • Work together with Ticketing team on all ticketing initiatives attached to promoted and joint venture events
  • Partner with WRG Client Services Department to ensure sponsorship fulfillment
  • Work within expense budgets
  • Other duties as assigned

Background:

  • At least 5 years of previous event management or event promotion experience, preferably in motorsports
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work within a strict budget
  • Background and/or familiarity with WRG-style racing products preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in marketing, public relations, or sports/motorsports management preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention-to-detail, proof-reading and project management skills
  • Able to maintain professional and positive demeanor in high-pressure situations

Notables:

  • This position is based in Concord, NC
  • Travel averages 40% per month, with a concentration occurring during racing season. US and Canada.
  • Frequent sitting, using hands to grasp, reach and feel; occasional lifting up to 35 pounds; use of close vision
  • Salary dependent on experience; must include desired compensation for consideration
