Machinist (Prototype)

The position:
We are looking to recruit a highly skilled individual to join our Prototype machine shop. The position involves the manufacture of high specification components in a range of materials using 3 and 5 axis Hurco, and 5 axis DMG machine tools which are both supported with Siemens NX CAM and Vericut verification software.

The role:
This is a varied role in a both exciting and challenging environment and to succeed you will need to be adaptable, demonstrate initiative and enjoy working as part of a team. Problem solving, attention to detail, good communication and organisational skills are accentual to this position which should help to support the continuous improvement approach that you will take.

Skills you’ll use every day:
The successful candidate will have a good knowledge around manufacturing technology in producing low volume and complex components. Operationally you will display a high level of competency and ideally have experience with 3 and 5 axis Hurco, and 5 axis DMG machines with Siemens contols whilst working to aid the department in meeting its tight delivery targets for all its customers. Although this is primarily a Milling role, there may also be the opportunity to demonstrate any Turning skills that you possess on our DMG and Hitachi lathes.

Core skills:
Candidates should ideally possess a recognised apprenticeship or have gained relevant experience in a similar environment, take pride in their work and be capable of working with a minimum of supervision with attention to detail whilst displaying a ‘can do’ attitude. Good written and verbal communication skills will also be required, as liaising with other departments within Williams will be another key element to this position. A high degree of flexibility, self-motivation, team ethic and initiative are critical for success in this role as is the willingness to work extended hours when workloads require.

This role will be for Double Days (a week of AM and then a week of PMs).
