Job Summary:

The Machine Shop Technician 3 performs a variety of duties and utilizes multiple skillsets. Techs are required to follow detailed drawings and instructions. Set up, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines and standard machine shop tools are some of the daily tasks

Job Role:

  • Machine Shop Technician 1 and 2 Principal Accountabilities
  • Attention to detail and quality is required
  • Reads and understands blue prints, isometric drawings and work orders
  • Receives and carries out directions from designated Supervisors and Production Leads
  • Must be able to understand and comply with Safety Practices
  • Identifies and obtains equipment, tools and materials needed to properly perform job function
  • Properly executes Hazardous Material Disposal activities
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly, FOD free condition
  • Knowledge and use of common hand tools
  • Accurate use of precision measuring instruments (e.g: micrometers, callipers, etc,) and working to exacting tolerances
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
  • Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Additional Job Duties:

  • Fibreworks Composites forklift operation (once Certified)
  • CNC Mill and Router set up, operation and maintenance
  • Operation of standard machine shop tools and machinery
  • Working knowledge of Math, Geometry and Trigonometry
  • CNC code editing on the shop floor
  • NC Programming (as applicable)

Additional Qualities:

  • Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Working knowledge of CNC Machining/Programming
  • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, work instructions and SDS sheets common to a machining/production environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, prioritize tasks and establish routines
  • Demonstrate effective communication, initiation, and leadership skills
  • Self-directed with a team-oriented mentality
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot during new process development yet adhere to procedure with established processes
  • Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of the trade
  • Experience with micrometers, calipers, and other measurement equipment
  • Needs to have a strong appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and completing demands
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • CNC Experience preferred
  • Experience with 5 axis (Routers) a plus
  • Experienced Certified Forklift Operator
  • CAM software experience a plus
