Role Overview

Manufacturing operations need to be established to support the global distribution of its new products from bases initially in Europe.  Taking a shift left approach to the launch phase, the verification builds will bring forward the Launch Management into the delivery of the Engineering prototypes. The early-stage integration enables the suitable candidate to develop and assist in the delivery of these initial builds and build the knowledge and network as a solid base to deliver the launch ramp. In turn enabling the volume production to be tightly controlled to ensure fault free delivery of product to their end-users. This role will report to the Vehicle Engineering Chief Engineer and be seconded to the New Model Launch Team with day-to-day direction given by the Manufacturing Chief Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Representing vehicle engineering as the key point of contact for all matters relating to the Vehicle Attribute management, Homologation and Test & Validations departments.
  • Support the design and deployment of Launch Team processes as required.
  • Represent Vehicle attribute team in Launch meetings, start up, wash up etc.
  • Lead static & dynamic sign off activities on behalf of Vehicle Engineering
  • Identify and report any non-compliance issues to the Homologation and Compliance department
  • Raise technical concern reports as required. 
  • Lead cross functional root cause analysis activities as required. 
  • Track prototype vehicle logistics 
  • Manage EU Field Evaluation Unit activities
  • Co-ordination of the R202 vehicle evaluation drives.
  • Ensure alignment between Vehicle Engineering and Manufacturing in order that the vehicles meet key requirements.
  • Build phase delivery, co-ordinate with Vehicle Engineering teams the problem resolution through each build phase.
  • Camoflague, specification including vehicle buy off before release.
  • Establish containment actions within the engineering team to ensure vehicles are fit for purpose and align glidepaths to deliver permanent corrective actions.
  • Develop with the teams post build planning supporting both Engineering and Manufacturing requirements.
  • Support rework activity to ensure vehicles are fit for purpose prior to leaving the plant
  • Representation of Attribute team as required at Launch Meetings, wash up, start up etc
  • Coordinate instrumentation installation activities as required.
  • Drive sustainability ideals into product and processes to meet the targets of the vehicle.
  • Participate in Lesson Learned activities following each build phase to ensure continuous improvement of the product and processes.

Basic Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline. 
  • 7+ years industry experience. Including delivery of 2 vehicle launches (Ideally 1 BEV programme)
  • 3+ years’ experience of leading cross functional teams towards the achievement of both department and business objectives.
  • Knowledge of vehicle development processes, milestones and deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of 6 Sigma or 8D problem solving methodologies

Additional Requirements

Must be able to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run. Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends where needed to meet deadlines and company goals.
