Lead Chassis Engineer

As we begin this exciting journey we are looking for a Lead Chassis Engineer to join our Motorsport Engineering function and help deliver our future championship winning GT cars. 

Purpose of the role:

As Lead Chassis Engineer for Motorsport you will be responsible for defining and ultimately delivering the delivery strategy for the function group. You will have technical responsibility for all aspects of chassis system across Motorsport programmes (Suspension, Suspension actuators, Steering).

The Lead Chassis Engineer will also be required to help support knowledge sharing initiatives between Motorsport and the main Automotive business.

Principal accountabilities:

  • With the project chief engineers, lead the design and development of components and systems to ensure optimised vehicle performance and delivery of vehicle attributes
  • Actively support information flow to the Head of Chassis and Vehicle Technology in Automotive to transfer Motorsport technologies when applicable.
  • Leading initiatives to deliver Chassis System glide path targets and leading weight reduction initiatives to deliver weight targets
  • Leadership, planning, monitoring and control of Chassis Design activities to guarantee project delivery
  • Establish and control system and component, design, release, development and validation plans in association with functional experts and in line with technical risk management processes
  • Ensure manufacturability and compliance with quality standards of all components and systems within the defined BOM through interface with manufacturing site and suppliers
  • Preparation and presentation of material to support external and internal project status reviews
  • The ability to motivate and focus team members and suppliers to meet all program deliverables

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Extensive OEM experience / Motorsport industry experience
  • Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree
  • Leader of high performance cross functional teams
  • Extensive experience of automotive design and development
  • Excellent systems design and development knowledge
  • Experience in component release management and problem solving
  • An ability to deliver under pressure with an appetite for measured success
