OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To manage and maintain Type Approval programmes of current and future European products
- Ensure on time delivery of certification projects for our customers
- Ensure vehicle engineering functions have in place system strategies to meet regulatory requirements
- Support Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To manage Whole vehicle/system/ component homologation and approvals
- Provide Interpretation of EU legislative requirements including design for compliance and COP
- Communication of requirements throughout the organisation
- Compiling homologation timing plans for whole vehicle Type approval activities
- To plan system and whole vehicle approvals
- Execute testing and report status of homologation programmes into key programme forums
- Provide point of contact for engineers based in the UK and China for homologation and certification guidance
- Maintain regular contact with VCA and other agencies to ensure that any external influences are known and included in the vehicle design
- Investigating impending regulations and their effect on the whole vehicle design, Devising Strategy to support longer term requirements.
- Facilitate derogation applications and communication with SMMT
