In 2019 Joe and Guenther decided to launch an AS9100 / ISO certified sister company called Composite Factory. Composite Factory’s primary focus is to diversify our business into Aerospace, Aero structures, Aviation and Defense, and the Medical industries that require a higher level of traceability and certification. Job Summary:

Manage the Finishing and Demold departments to ensure that we have the optimal staffing level and skillset for forecasted workflow. Department improvements for future growth and optimal efficiencies while maintaining departments of outstanding excellence.

Job Role:

  • Managerial Responsibilities:
    • Supervising the daily operations of the Finishing and Demold departments
    • Oversee new processes, ensuring they are documented, rolled out and signed off in conjunction with Quality requirements.
    • Provide positive and constructive criticism when reviewing Finishing and Demold Technician’s work technique and paperwork
    • Ensure Leads have all they require for first article prove out
    • Ensure parts and paperwork are processed through GSS correctly
    • Assist Production Planning with accurately maintaining schedules
    • Provide feedback to Production Planning on schedule conflicts and disparities
    • Reinforce cleaning procedures with leads if they aren’t being followed
    • Ensure tools are maintained and in optimal working condition
    • Advise management and Engineering of best manufacturing practices
    • Attend and provide feedback in the morning production meetings
  • HR Responsibilities:
    • Provide positive and constructive criticism when reviewing Finishing and Demold Technician’s work technique and paperwork
    • Ensure leads are holding employees accountable to company standards and procedures and correct documentation and recognition are given where appropriate
    • Responsible for departments employee PE’s and HR documentation
    • Interview potential new hires
  • Budget Responsibilities:
    • Manage department budgets
    • Purchase request approvals and submission
    • Help control material waste and control scrap. Minimize rework through training
    • Analyze and track manufacturing times of new parts/molds to provide feedback to Profitability and Production Manager
    • Provide feedback to Finishing and Demold Leads on how to increase efficiency
    • Assist Quoting Department with Finishing and demold times
  • Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Composite Finishing and Manufacturing
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude, can do attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to read blueprints/drawings
  • Must be able to use small hand tools, sanders, rivet guns, drills, manual routers, adhesive applicators, calipers, gauges, and other measuring devices
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor activities with varying conditions
  • Requires walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • May involve operating material handling equipment in a safe manner
  • Work may include exposure to variable noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc., requiring personal protective equipment
  • Some positions may require working with small parts/components, necessitating excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
