At the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) we are a passionate team focused on the development, regulation, promotion and administration of motor sport across Australia. As the National Sporting Authority and custodian of four wheeled motor sport, we have developed a solid membership base and a dedicated team with a commitment to doing what’s best for the sport.
Following the retirement of a long term employee and the review of the motor sport department, CAMS is seeking to appoint a Division Manager – Safety and Race Operations. This important role at CAMS will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of track and sport safety at motor sport events throughout Australia. In addition, this role will perform the duties of Race Director or Deputy Race Director at major motor sport events.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertake and coordinate track inspections for motor sport venues throughout Australia
- Perform the role of Race Director or Deputy Race Director at major motor sport events
- Provide advice to venues on the building of new tracks or upgrading of tracks, and their safety requirements
- Oversee the management of Sporting Regulations for National events
- Manage the Australian Formula One Grand Prix Engineering Group meetings
- Review incidents occurring at race tracks and speed event venues
- Oversee safety and risk across the CAMS Group and motor sport events and venues.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Extensive experience in and a strong knowledge of motor sport operations, particularly motor racing
- Experience as a senior official in motor sport
- Operational experience in safety, risk and compliance management, in high risk environments
- High level interpersonal and communication skills with experience building effective relationship and leading teams
- Qualifications in mechanical, civil engineering, risk management or similar, and skills in AutoCAD software and or vehicle data logging systems are highly desirable
