NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of IMSA-Data and Electronics Engineer based in our Daytona Beach, Florida office.

This person is responsible for the oversight of electronics, telemetry, and data systems across multiple series and classes.  Development, integration, and support of data acquisition systems.  Leads management of electronic systems with IMSA teams and suppliers. Assists in writing and revising regulations, further developing enforcement methods, and scrutineering of related systems.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Development, implementation, and oversight of series specific electronics, telemetry, and data acquisition systems.
  • Interfaces directly with teams and suppliers for all IMSA series on all data systems, telemetry, and electronics.
  • Administers policy as defined in the regulations related to data systems, telemetry, and electronics.
  • Organizes setup, configuration, and operation of trackside engineering infrastructure.
  • Manages collection, organization, and internal distribution of logged data.
  • Responsible writing and revising regulations, further developing enforcement methods, and scrutineering of related systems.
  • Assist stakeholders with regulation interpretation.
  • Approximate travel 50% including weekends.    
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Required skills / experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related; and a minimum of three (3) years motorsports experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Position is safety sensitive and participates in the corporate Substance Abuse Program (SAP).
  • Professional motorsports experience required, team or manufacturer experience preferred.
  • Professional experience with motorsports data acquisition
  • Understanding of vehicle systems and control systems
  • Skilled with Excel, data interpreter platforms, and data logging configurators.  Programming experience in MATLAB preferred.
  • Experienced with both Controller Area Network (CAN) and IT network technologies.
  • Strong work ethic, unquestionable integrity, and commitment to excellence
  • Adept at multitasking and project management

  • Data driven decisions using solid engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. 
  • Conversational French considered a plus.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. 
  • Proficient on all Company provided hardware and software. 
  • Skilled with Excel, data interpreter platforms, and data logging configurators.  Programming experience in MATLAB preferred.
  • Experienced with both CAD and IT network technologies.
