CNC Machinist Technician, Manufacturing

TRD is looking for a highly motivated and experienced CNC Machinist, Technician in our Manufacturing Dept. with a minimum of 4 years experience working in a 5 axis, job shop type CNC environment, responsible for producing tight tolerance racing components within compressed lead times.

The CNC Machinist Technician?s daily responsibilities include set up, operation and preventative maintenance tasks associated with CNC machinery. Procedural tasks consist of but are not limited to: CNC program performance documentation, fixture set up and tear down, cutting tool life maintenance, schedule adherence, and daily machine TPM tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to production demands and scheduling as outlined by the Factory Planner to achieve on-time deliveries.
  • Communicate all relevant information to fellow team members in a clear, concise timely and professional manner.
  • Using dedicated TRD software, document machine quality, performance, errors or maintenance items.
  • Consistent follow-up and review with the Quality Control department to ensure components are being adjusted and manufactured within tolerance guidelines.
  • Provide feedback to the Technical Engineering department concerning items such as program optimization, program adjustments, tooling selection (including speeds & feeds).
  • Monitor machine activity during the initial (first run) implementation of new product processes, to limit both component and machinery exposure to damage.
  • Ascertain all necessary information from the Quality Control department to ensure the new products process is complete, accurate and adjusted if required.
  • Provides feedback to the Supervisor, Production Manufacturing and Technical Engineering departments in regard to results, suggestions and required adjustments of any new product processes.

Qualifications:

The candidate will have:

  • Minimum 4 years, CNC Machinist experience, operating high speed, 5 axis milling machines.
  • High School diploma AND AA Degree or completed trade school study relevant toward CNC machine manufacturing, or sufficient shop floor experience with the ability to manage all machine functions and optional operating conditions.
  • Competent with various forms of manual measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, go/no-go gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to read, interpret and action required steps as detailed on engineering blueprints, with a thorough GD&T background.
  • Strong knowledge of cutting tool applications (e.g., reamers, end mills, boring bars, taps, drills, etc.) with the ability to understand and follow detailed precision cutting tool assembly and presetting requirements.
  • Ability to read, follow, and provide feedback on documented SOP's.
  • Ability to provide quality written and verbal communication from the shop floor to Manufacture Engineering and shop floor management, using standard office or web based softwares.
  • Comprehensive understanding of both the inch and metric measuring systems.

A preferred candidate may have:

  • Extensive hands-on experience working with GF Mikron machinery and/or Heidenhain 530 or 640 machine controls.
  • Hands-on experience using Heidenhain or Siemans machine controls to create CNC probing programs.
  • Experience operating in an automated CNC environment where the majority of work is performed away from the machine itself, preparing and proving automated operation.
  • Interpretation of inspection results.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in the selection, assembly and presetting of a variety of cutting tools.
  • Experience and satisfaction working in a 5S shop floor environment.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles and make up of OEE, and desire to work in a data / metric driven OEE shop floor environment.
  • Forklift operating experience
