In 2019 Joe and Guenther decided to launch an AS9100 / ISO certified sister company called Composite Factory. Composite Factory’s primary focus is to diversify our business into Aerospace, Aero structures, Aviation and Defense, and the Medical industries that require a higher level of traceability and certification. Job Summary:

Manage daily operations of a machine shop that specializes in multi-axis machining of patterns and molds for the Composites industry.

Job Role:

  • Instil core values, culture, structure and discipline into a newly invested division of Fibreworks Composites to maximize profits
  • Manage, coordinate, plan and direct activity in machine shop
  • Analyze and create work schedules in conjunction with the core business Production Manager
  • Provide pricing feedback to the Profitability Manager and VP of Business Development
  • Make sure operations are carried out efficiently and safely
  • Review engineering drawings, initiate tool and material requests
  • Provide feedback of cost saving and time efficiencies by utilizing the Machining Department Applications Engineer
  • Develop/execute initial budgets, specifications, and operating procedures
  • Schedule preventative maintenance on machines
  • Responsible for completing employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions in a timely manner
  • Assist Composite & Metallic Supervisors with SOP compliance by utilizing the Machining Department Applications Engineer
  • Support a new in-house Machine Shop Training Program utilizing the established internal resources
  • Recognize internal talent and establish growth plans for departmental employees
  • Find solutions to problems that were found by implementing countermeasures
  • Identify department needs (i.e. headcount, resources, etc.)
  • Research machining technology for departmental efficiencies and improvements
  • Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • 5+ years of machine shop management experience
  • Must be well versed in multi axis milling and work holding methods
  • The ability and desire to identify precision work
  • Excellent written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Good computer skills (MS Office Suite)
  • Exemplary attendance
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
  • Needs to have a strong appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and completing demands
