Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager (Building Services)

For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Project Manager to join our Infrastructure Projects team, part of the wider Facilities Department based at the Red Bull Technology Campus in Milton Keynes. This role will be integral to supporting the expansion of our dynamic F1 facilities and the wider team in delivering infrastructure changes around the Campus.

As you would expect with F1, our facilities as well as our cars are constantly evolving, so we’re looking for a Project Manager with a rounded skillset who is willing to get involved in all stages of project delivery on both large and small schemes.  You will need to supply practical, efficient solutions to our various projects and get involved in undertaking design work of your own on small schemes. On larger schemes you will be responsible for setting out requirements for several areas across a mixture of services, and then handover the detailed design work to external consultancy support.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need some dynamic thinking, a determination to see projects through in a timely manner and thrive working in a fast-paced and high-pressured environment.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Scoping, design, and development of mechanical and electrical systems on various projects, supporting the Project Manager or leading projects on your own.
  • Detailed involvement in design development on larger projects, utilising your skills to produce detailed room data sheets, interface schedules and phasing documents.
  • Supporting with, and at times, leading the tendering and contract appointment stages for a project.
  • Manage projects on site working closely with the Main Contractor to ensure all works adhere to programme and schedules and that minimum disruption to the business is maintained.
  • Review detailed cost analysis summaries throughout the project term to ensure all costs are maintained within pre-agreed budget limits.

Qualities for success:

  • Great communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be able to work with the various departments to develop their initial ideas into practical solutions and presenting solutions to meet the customer requirements within our existing infrastructure.
  • Be comfortable sharing skills and support within a team environment.
  • Preferable for you to have good working knowledge of the whole construction process.
  • Being familiar with managing activities in line with the Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.

Now from us - what you can expect to receive in return:

Not only is this a fantastic role, but it is also a fantastic team to work with here at Red Bull Technology.

A good salary is just the start, there are many other benefits too such as our bonus scheme, private health care cover, life assurance scheme, workplace nursery, company contributed pension scheme, on site gym & fitness classes, free food, and a cycle to work scheme; but above all, the job satisfaction doesn’t get any better than the feeling of making a real contribution to the function of our grand prix cars.
