Automotive Engineer

We are currently looking for an engineer to join our Track Team on a full time, permanent basis. For this position we are pleased to consider candidates who are new to Track Testing who are looking for an opportunity to develop their skills, as well as more experienced engineers, looking for their next challenge in an automotive environment.

An industry leader in the field of automotive research and testing our Track Team plays a high profile and crucial role in driving safety improvements across theEuropean automotive industry. We deliver high quality Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) testing for vehicle manufactures and the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), helping to improve vehicle safety and reduce accidents.

Join us as an Automotive Track Engineer and you’ll contribute to the delivery of new vehicle safety testing, resulting in the reduction of personal injury and vehicle damage claims across Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting in the preparation of test vehicles, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of all track tests
  • Delivering high quality insurance group rating testing and research outputs which can lead directly to reduced insurance premiums for new cars and new/improved safety protocol in the future
  • Driving test cars during testing to understand and quantify safety systems performance
  • Operating testing equipment and analysing test data and results quickly to ensure they meet detailed engineering requirements
  • Writing reports on test results which will be sent to customers
  • Delivering high quality demonstrations at the test track and other venues as required

Skills and experience:

Essential

  • Qualified to degree level in a related subject such as, but not limited to, Automotive, Motorsport or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience using data analysis tools and techniques, including software packages such as MATLAB and LabVIEW
  • Understanding of fundamental engineering and scientific principles
  • You must be comfortable working in an outdoors environment where vehicles are tested

Desirable

  • Knowledge of vehicle active safety technologies and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • An understanding of automotive safety and track testing practice and procedures, including Euro NCAP test protocols
  • Basic computer programming skills
  • A strong interest or knowledge of motor vehicles

Salary: From £24,000 + competitive benefits & pension package.
