Job Title:               Security Officer, Bowman Gray Stadium

SUMMARY:

This position provides a visible security presence to guests and employees and assists guests with questions regarding directions, information about the facility, parking, and disabled assistance. This is a part-time seasonal position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Direct and control vehicular traffic flow in and out of the racetrack parking areas during events to ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers. Monitor parking areas for compliance with designated parking regulations.
  • Manage crowd flow and ensure orderly conduct during events, races, and other gatherings. Maintain control over large crowds and intervene in situations where disturbances or conflicts arise.
  • Enforce racetrack policies, rules, and regulations to maintain order and safety standards. Address any violations promptly and professionally, utilizing appropriate measures as outlined by racetrack protocols.
  • Respond swiftly to emergencies, accidents, or medical incidents within the racetrack premises.
  • Patrolling the property and monitoring for unwanted, unsafe, or suspicious behavior.
  • Collaborate effectively with other security team members, racetrack staff, and law enforcement agencies to address security challenges and maintain a cohesive security operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior experience in law enforcement, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse audiences in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing demands during peak event periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the race schedule and event calendar.
  • Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities according to the race schedule and event calendar.
