SUMMARY:

The Public Relations and Official Weekly Program Support Staff will manage public relations efforts and provide support for the weekly racing program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Performs race night public relations functions including calculating track point standings.
  • Providing information to the press.
  • Answer fan questions by phone and through social media.
  • Monitors track Facebook page and responds as appropriate.
  • Monitor track Website and respond to inquiries as appropriate.
  • Update the track Website each week and as otherwise required and prepare information for the official weekly program.
  • Gather and prepare information for the official weekly program
  • Act as a substitute for race night public relations functions including calculating track point standings.
  • Provide information to the press.
  • Act as a substitute for calculating track point standings and inputting MyRacePass data after each race
  • Count Most Popular Driver votes
  • Assemble competitor trophies
  • Prepares and mails sponsor thank you packets
  • Print dated tickets and sponsor tickets
  • Embroider the track’s checkered flags.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior experience in retail sales, customer service, or event operations preferred; basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash transactions accurately; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing demands during peak event periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the race schedule and event calendar.
  • Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities according to the race schedule and event calendar.
